Software Engineering Intern
We're looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our small, fast-paced engineering team. You'll write real Python that runs in production, connect to external APIs, and ship your work packaged and tested — with senior engineers reviewing your PRs and mentoring you through the practices (code review, unit testing, containerization) that separate hobby code from software people can maintain.
Why this role exists
Our core engineering team is spending time on internal tooling and data-fetching scripts that keep the lights on but slow down customer-facing work. We want a motivated intern to own that layer: build reliable, well-tested automation so the rest of the team can focus on shipping features. It's a real problem with a real customer (us), and the smallest correct fix is genuinely valuable.
What you'll do
Internal automation scripts. Write clean, readable Python to build and maintain the internal tools that keep our workflows moving. Small, focused scripts that do one thing correctly — not sprawling frameworks.
External API integration. Connect to third-party APIs to fetch data safely, handle the failure paths (timeouts, malformed responses, rate limits), clean the results, and load them into our database.
Testing and packaging. Write basic unit tests that actually assert behavior — including the boundary and error cases, not just the happy path — and package your work with Docker so it runs the same way in every environment.
Collaboration and documentation. Work with the engineering team through code review, and document what you ship so the next engineer (including you, in three months) can pick it up without asking.
What we're looking for
Working knowledge of Python — you can read and write it comfortably, even if you haven't shipped it professionally yet.
Basic SQL and an understanding of how relational databases work.
Familiarity with Git — branches, commits, pull requests.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
Eagerness to learn how production software is actually built, reviewed, and shipped.
Nice to have
Any hands-on experience with Docker or containers.
Prior exposure to writing unit tests (pytest, unittest, or similar).
Experience calling REST APIs from a script or small project.
What success looks like
By the end of the internship, you will have built and deployed a Python automation script that safely fetches data from an external API, cleans it, and loads it into our database — complete with unit tests, Docker packaging, and documentation clear enough that another engineer can maintain it without your help. If you demonstrate strong ownership and growth, there's a path to a full-time junior engineer role after graduation.
Logistics
Fully remote from Egypt. Internship, working closely with a small engineering team (2-5 engineers) and reporting into a senior engineer for mentorship. Interview process: CV screening, a short technical assessment, and a live interview.
Benefits
Direct mentorship from senior engineers on real production code
Hands-on experience with code review, automated testing, and containerization
Potential path to a full-time junior engineer role after graduation
